Emily Thelen received her PhD in Musicology (2010) from Princeton University with a dissertation entitled, the "Lady of Sorrows: Music, Devotion, and Politics in the Burgundian-Habsburg Netherlands." Currently a post-doctoral fellow at KU Leuven, she is working on the IWT/SBO project, "New Perspectives in Polyphony." Her research has been previously supported by fellowships from the Belgian American Educational Foundation and the Flemish Community. She has also taught at New York University and Princeton University, where she was also a Graduate Fellow of the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning. She holds a B.A. in the Program of Liberal Studies and Organ Performance from the University of Notre Dame.
