Hildegard of Bingen, Symphonia harmoniae caelestium revelationum. Dendermonde, St.-Pieters & Paulusabdij, Ms. Cod. 9

The Hildegard of Bingen manuscript (Symphonia harmonie caelestium revelationum), which is kept in Dendermonde (Belgium), is a unique source. It was written at the Rupertsberg scriptorium c. 1175, under the supervision of Hildegard herself. Despite several missing pages, the manuscript is unique and of exceptional quality. It contains a liturgical cycle with antiphons, responsories, sequences, hymns, a kyrie and an alleluia, including references to the appropiate feasts. Hildegard gave the manuscript to the monks of Villers as a gift. Via Gembloux and Afflighem it eventually ended up in Dendermonde.
